The memory of DeShaun “Proof” Holton of D12 will be honored in Detroit with a scholarship for high school seniors who come from low-income, single-parent households. The scholarship is being offered by the Proof Legacy Foundation, which was launched by Proof’s mother, Sharallene “Pepper” Holton-White, in 2007.

The Proof Legacy Foundation would like to reward 1-3 senior students in DPS $1,000 scholarship Who would like to further their education in 2 or 4 college/university.

Requirements

High school seniors that are residents of the City of Detroit, have a GPA of 3.0 or higher and will matriculate at an accredited two-year community college or four-year college or university in the United States full-time during the academic school year are eligible to apply for this scholarship. Each scholarship applicant is asked to write an essay on how they would work to stop violence, if they were Mayor of Detroit or Chief of Police/ or once graduated from college and established, how they plan on giving back to their community. The essay will be evaluated on originality, content, thought-provoking ideas, innovation, unpublished concepts, punctuation, spelling, citations, and references.
